Salem Medical Center (SMC) is a 138-bed community hospital with a medical staff of nearly 200 physicians in a wide range of medical specialties. With nearly 500 employees, SMC is one of the top five employers in Salem County. In addition to 24/7 emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, medical- surgical inpatient/ICU care, SMC provides a number of community-based outpatient services such as diagnostic imaging, laboratory, rehabilitation, wound care, cardiopulmonary, and others. SMC is home to the county’s state-designated Psychiatric Screening Center and offers inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services.

Salem Medical Center is a part of Community Healthcare Associates (CHA), an organization which has successfully revitalized existing, and constructed new, healthcare facilities in New Jersey and New York resulting in job creation and preservation of community-based healthcare. Successful projects have included Barnert Hospital in Paterson, the Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton, and the Greenville Hospital in Jersey City.

Effectively all insurance contracts prior to the transition to Salem Medical Center on February 1, 2019, are currently active and in full force.
