SMC’s laboratory team celebrated 45 years of National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week with “Lunch and Learn” events, games and prizes, and a T-shirt that declares they have “Always Been Essential.”
The lab staff is made up of 18 medical professionals who specialize in Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry/Toxicology, and Blood Bank just to name a few.
The phlebotomists are on the front lines drawing blood while the medical technologists are behind the scenes processing and testing specimens with the ultimate goal of confirming a diagnosis.
“We were happy to provide lab week T-shirts for our team to show our unity and have a little fun,” said Associate Vice President of Operations Jane Oates, MT, ASCP. “They all do a great job every day and I’m proud to work with them.”
