CEO Tammy Torres, DNP, MSN, RN, was recently named one of the Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ.
She will be featured alongside women leaders in the October issue of the state-wide business magazine and at a special recognition event.
The program recognizes women who are shattering stereotypes and the glass ceiling, with the significant impacts they’re making on business and the community.
“Being named to this list of amazing women is such an honor,” said Dr. Torres. “However, my job is a team effort that involves many people. My staff makes it possible for me to succeed.”
Dr. Torres came to SMC in 2016 as Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer. She was named Chief Executive Officer in 2017.
She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Southern Connecticut State University.
Dr. Torres is currently chairwoman of the Salem County Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the boards of the New Jersey Hospital Association, the Health Professionals Advisory Committee, and the Salem Community College Foundation.
“Tammy has been a wonderful leader and has accomplished much since joining SMC,” said William Colgan, Chairman of the Board. “It’s nice to see that she is garnering accolades from others in the business world.”
