Cindy Williams has graced the halls of SMC since 1988 — fresh out of high school.
“I started at the front desk, then went to the switchboard,” she said. “In 1999, I started in radiology, and have been here ever since.”
Because of her dedication, work ethic and overall caring personality, Williams was named October’s Salem Oak Ancillary Excellence Award winner.
“I am so honored,” she said. “It makes me feel appreciated and very special.”
Williams received six nominations from coworkers.
Registrar Nicole Vanaman said she has known Williams for many years as a patient and coworker.
“She’s always so pleasant and sweet,” Vanaman wrote in her nomination. “She really goes above and beyond for her patients and is a team player.”
HIM Director Paula Bourbonnais said Williams consistently demonstrates excellent customer service skills with patients, medical staff and coworkers.
“She is a gem,” she said.
The radiology team values Williams as both a coworker and friend.
Lead Mammographer Amy Robinson said the radiology department “can’t run without her.”
MRI Tech said Williams is “one of the friendliest people” she knows.
“She always comes to work with a smile and a positive attitude,” she said.
Williams said her coworkers — or “work family” — and the patients are what have kept her at SMC for 33 years.
“I work with a very good group of coworkers, and I just care about people,” Williams said.
