Cathleen Butenewicz — Risk and Quality Coordinator
Cathleen Butenewicz, DNP, MSN, RN-BC, NE-BC, is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission standards relating to risk management and quality. She will also help coordinate trainings for risk management and quality.
Butenewicz has more than 30 years of experience in nursing and has held several directorial and managerial leadership positions.
She previously served as Director of Patient Care Services at Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Prior to that position, she served as Nurse Manager of the Surgical Specialty Unit/Vascular Access Team/Observation Unit.
Butenewicz received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Capella University’s online campus, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilmington University, New Castle, DE.
She has given several poster presentations including “Executive Leadership Rounding: Its Impact on Nurse Satisfaction and Safety Outcomes” at the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses Annual Conference in Chicago, IL, and “Patient Medication Education and Its Impact on the Discharged Medical/Surgical Patient” at the Sigma Theta Tau Biennial Convention in Las Vegas, NV.
Michael McIntosh — Infection Preventionist
Michael McIntosh, Ph.D, RN, is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control and quality core measures and will assist with staff training on infection prevention and core measures.
He has many years of administrative, managerial, clinical, nursing and healthcare experience.
McIntosh comes to SMC most recently from Kirkbride Center in Philadelphia, PA, where he was Nursing Supervisor and responsible for Nursing Compliance.
He was previously an Infection Preventionist at Pennsylvania Hospital; Nursing Supervisor at Hahnemann University Hospital; and a Surgical/Clinical Coordinator at St. Joseph Hospital, all in Philadelphia, PA.
McIntosh received his Ph.D. in Public Health/Health Studies from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, and his Master of Arts in General Experimental Psychology with Health Option from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT.
He served on the Board of Directors, Health Promotion Council, Philadelphia, PA, for a three-year term from 2012 to 2015.
