Stephanie Ventura’s commitment to those she cares for made her the perfect choice for August’s Salem Oak Ancillary Excellence Award.
Ventura — Patient Care Tech for Tele/MedSurg — has been at SMC for nearly two years.
As a member of the community, Ventura said she often sees friends or neighbors during her rounds.
“I love it here,” she said. “I love the patients and sometimes see patients I know.”
Her goal is to always be her patients’ advocate.
“If they need something, I make sure they get it,” Ventura said. “I want to make sure they have a comfortable stay while in my care. It’s nice being able to represent the hospital in a positive way.”
Not only is she appreciated by the patients, but Ventura is also valued by the staff.
“Stephanie has a great attitude and is a fantastic contributor to the team,” said Dauretanya Sweeney, RN, one nominating co-worker. “I prefer working shifts that include Steph.”
Karen Ferguson, RN, said Ventura is “dedicated to excellence in all areas of her profession.”
“She is admired by all of the nurses,” Ferguson wrote in her nomination.
Finally, Samantha Gannon, RN, said Ventura not only puts her patients first, she “drops what she is doing if someone needs help.”
Ventura was very grateful for the recognition.
“I was not expecting this,” she said. “What a nice surprise! Thank you all!”
