Growing up, Dr. Douglas Mazzuca Jr. watched his father — Dr. Douglas Mazzuca Sr. — heal his patients’ eyes and help them see the world much more clearly.
While as a boy he admired his father’s work, Dr. Mazzuca Jr. decided to take a different path in life.
He graduated from Villanova University with a degree in mechanical engineering, but it didn’t take him long to realize he did indeed belong by his father’s side.
Dr. Mazzuca attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as chief resident during his training.
In 2016, he joined his father at the Mazzuca Eye and Laser Center and has been changing people’s lives ever since.
“I enjoy helping people see better, whether it be with the correct pair of glasses or contacts, with laser eye surgery or cataract surgery,” said Dr. Mazzuca, a board-certified ophthalmologist. “Seeing my patients smile makes me smile.”
Dr. Mazzuca is an attending surgeon at Salem Medical Center where he performs many procedures including cataract surgeries. He also performs Epi-LASIK procedures, glaucoma treatments, and both medical and surgical treatments for a wide variety of ophthalmic disorders including dry eye, refractive disorders with PRK treatment, retinal and oculoplastic disorders.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
