Joseph F. Girone, MD, CRC

SMC Health Physicians welcomes Dr. Joseph F. Girone to Swedesboro Primary Care.

Having been born and raised in the greater South Jersey/Philadelphia area, Dr. Girone, fondly called “Dr. Joe” by his patients, has built a career on improving the level of care both in primary care as a general internist and as a nephrologist, serving as the principal provider to dialysis patients (he founded a freestanding dialysis unit in Woodbury). In addition to non-surgical weight loss management, Dr. Girone has focused on integrative approaches to achieve optimal wellness to include cardiovascular risk reduction and overall fitness.

After undergraduate studies in biology with General College Honors at LaSalle University, Dr. Girone earned his medical degree from Rutgers-NJ Medical School in 1983. Dual ABIM board-certified, he completed residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and nephrology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital before joining a large private nephrology practice based at Hahnemann University Hospital. He became a solo private practitioner 2 years later and developed a strong nephrology referral practice in South Jersey at the then Underwood & West Jersey system, and later focused on primary care medicine with an emphasis on wellness and fitness.

Dr. Girone looks forward to building a strong primary care practice that will focus on wellness with age-appropriate management as part of a “concierge” approach to individualized care for each of his patients.

“My desire is to give patients what they need to understand their conditions and set them on a course toward a healthier existence for quality living,” said Dr. Girone.

Dr. Girone is currently taking new patients at Swedesboro Primary Care, 95 Woodstown Rd., Swedesboro. Call 856-832-4359 to make an appointment.
