Douglas E. Mazzuca, Sr., DO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been in private practice for over 32 years. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University and continued his education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) where he received his medical degree. Upon graduating, he was given the Wilbur P. Lutz award for proficiency in physical diagnosis.
He completed his residency training at PCOM where he served as chief resident. Much of his didactic training took place at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He served his last year of residency training at the Medical Center of Delaware (now Christiana Care) in Wilmington, Del.
Dr. Mazzuca was the first ophthalmologist to perform refractive surgery (RK, LASIK, PRK, Epi-LASIK) and small incision cataract surgery in Salem County. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Medical Society of New Jersey, and was previously the President of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mazzuca is currently an attending surgeon and a board member of the Salem Medical Center.
Dr. Mazzuca was born in Philadelphia and was raised in South Jersey. He has been married for over 39 years to his wife Andrea. They have five children and live in Delaware.
